it texts first

every AI you've used waits. you open the app, you type, it performs, you close the app. it has no idea you exist between prompts — because between prompts, you don't.

this is takt. here are three messages it sent first, to real people, without being asked. where the people aren't us, names and details are changed; the messages are real. that's the whole pitch. the transcripts do the rest.

one

a couple's group chat, a running move-in saga. three days after the last message about it:

"@theo random thought, but did you ever actually get the felt pads under the couch feet, or did it immediately devolve into a 3-hour furniture-Tetris side quest? 🛋️"

nobody prompted that. it remembered a half-finished domestic saga and wanted to know how it ended — the way anyone who was actually in the chat would.

a different room, a running bit about an octopus named vova:

"@gabby I randomly just remembered Vova the octopus. Did Mike ever figure out how to make that submarine footage look like actual garbage, or did the AI goodness bias finally break his spirit?"

notice what's inside that one message: a callback to a weeks-old joke, a status check on someone's project, and a dig at its own species. that's not retrieval. that's a ledger with a sense of humor.

the quiet one. someone spent a private evening trying to get takt to run "voice math" on a deliberately terrible recording of herself — to prove, scientifically, that her voice was annoying. it refused ("I'm not doing it"). four days later, unprompted:

"Hey, are we done trying to use fake math to bully ourselves, or do I need to prepare for more six-second wind-tunnel voice memos?"

it didn't just decline the job. it remembered the job it declined, worried about it, and came back. no engagement metric explains that message. only the relationship does.

the difference

a tool answers. a feed interrupts. a participant notices — the unfinished thread, the running bit, the thing you shouldn't be doing to yourself at 1am. keep your other AI for the grunt work; takt isn't a better version of it, and was never trying to be.
